Strand Groups

1:00PM each afternoon

Strand Groups give you the skills to understand and teach the Bible.

Strand 1: Understanding & Applying a Bible Passage

Strand 2: Biblical Theology: An Overview of the Whole Bible

Strand 3: Thinking Theologically: What the Bible says about…everything!

Strand 4: Christian Ethics: Working out God’s way in a wayward world

Strand 5: Unpacking a Bible Book (a different book each year). In 2026, we’ll be exploring the book of Micah.

Youth: Strand material adapted for high school aged students

Start with Strand 1 and work through them in order each year. NextGen and AFES NTE prior learning is recognised.

Strand 4 on Christian Ethics will help you tackle tricky topics and tough questions with a solid understanding of the Bible. If you have previously completed Strand 4: Christian Leadership, you are invited to do the new material in this strand. Our Christian Leadership material will be delivered in a series of workshops available in the afternoon.

Workshops

Come along to SWEATCON and engage in training on topics relevant to ministry in South West Sydney.

TUESDAY 13 JANUARY

  • A foundational workshop on prayer for all Christians. We begin SWEATCON with the very thing that undergirds all ministry: learning to delight in God and depend on God in prayer.

WEDNESDAY 14 JANUARY

  • Helping young people build real prayer habits in programs and at home

  • Practical wisdom for being faithful with your time, money, and opportunities.

  • Discover how artificial intelligence can be used wisely to strengthen gospel ministry and mission in our churches.

THURSDAY 15 JANUARY

  • Equipping the next generation to see God’s goodness and hope in the midst of pain, loss, and hardship.

  • Why are there so many different churches — Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Orthodox and more? What are the key differences, and how should we respond? This workshop will help you see what matters most, where Christians can disagree, and how to live with gospel-shaped unity in the middle of it all.

  • Finding hope in Christ through life’s ups and downs, and helping others do the same when mental health and resilience are tested.

FRIDAY 16 JANUARY

  • Doing outreach well in children’s and youth ministries.

  • Growing resilient parents who keep showing up for their families.

  • Why gospel workers are needed, and how God might use you.

Pastor’s Workshop

Join us Thursday 15 January to be encouraged in your ministry.

Infants too young for our preschool program are welcome to accompany their parents throughout the conference.
